Highlighting the rich history of Filipino cuisine

Pancit is a Filipino noodle dish, commonly prepared with a variety of vegetables and meats. Popularized in the Philippines for generations because of how easy, affordable, and convenient it is to prepare, Pancit is a staple of Filipino cuisine.

For Filipinos, Pancit is more than just a delicious food—it’s a part of their culture. Symbolically, the long noodles of Pancit represent long life and good health. For that reason, it’s Filipino tradition to eat and serve Pancit at birthday celebrations. Pancit is also commonly served at family gatherings and parties of all kinds. Serving Pancit is among one of the many ways Filipinos spread well-wishes of good health and happiness to those around them.

Pancit.com strives to spread that same positivity by highlighting the best in Filipino cuisine—from Filipino restaurants, food vendors, and chefs, to delicious Filipino recipes passed down for generations.

Andrew Arcangel

Andrew Arcangel is a Filipino-American entrepreneur, and the owner and editor-in-chief of Pancit.com. Born and raised in New York, USA, Andrew is a foodie who grew up enjoying Filipino food (his favorites include Pancit, Sinigang, Kare-Kare, Ukoy, Giniling, and Chicken Adobo) thanks to his father, who cooks Filipino meals every day.

Despite living outside of the Philippines, where the majority of his family lives (his paternal grandfather was one of 13 children), Andrew is proud of his Filipino heritage and enjoys exploring different Filipino food spots throughout his local NYC area and wherever he travels in the US.

Andrew first started Pancit.com to document the Filipino food recipes passed down in his family. Every time he asked his relatives about a recipe, they always told stories or fond childhood memories that the food reminded them of. These stories made Andrew feel even more connected with his Filipino roots and his relatives—some from past generations who he never got to meet—which inspired him to use Pancit.com for something more.

Now, Andrew strives to build Pancit.com into not only the go-to cookbook of delicious Filipino food recipes, but also into a storybook of Filipino cuisine—capturing and spreading awareness of Filipino culture, history, and family traditions of the past and present.
